Ahh, Valentine's... the day of love! Of course the holiday day has been commercialized, but it is still a beautiful holiday and a time to show those you love how much they mean to you.
If you're like us, the kids have probably had plenty of candy from school parties so we tried to put together some cool activities for the day that aren't necessarily candy related (ok, ok, there may be sprinkles and syrup involved).
This year Valentine's falls on a Sunday so that means there's a little more time for mornings. How about some Valentine's pancakes to kick off the day? We found these at complete recipes.com. I might suggest just using a mix and then having the kiddos add their favorites to the mix individually. Sprinkles anyone?!
During breakfast why not have everyone go around the table and say a reason why they love each person there. Sweet huh?!
And then of course there's a craft. Honestly if you have finger paint, paper and crayons... well you can conquer the (kid's craft) world. Have the kids create Valentine's for family members while you read a book, or help them out. (Photo from Crafty Morning)
If you're not in the mood for crafts, family movies are a great way to celebrate spending time with the ones you love. There are lots of cutesie Valentine movies like Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.
And... last but not least, add a Valentine's theme to dinner. Pizza is always a hit with our family so this is a breeze and a fan favorite that requires little effort. (Photo from Baker by Nature)
We hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day!
